Engagement Shoot Locations You’ll Love — From Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast

Okay, real talk—where you have your engagement shoot isn’t nearly as important as how it makes you feel.

Whether it’s a meaningful spot (like where you had your first date or the place you got engaged), somewhere that reflects your relationship (think: the bowling alley or your favourite cocktail bar), or just an engagement shoot location you find visually stunning, what matters most is that it feels like you.

And if you’re feeling nervous about being in front of the camera? That’s totally normal! But instead of worrying about how to “pose” or what to wear, think of your shoot as a fun date—just the two of you, doing what you love.

Whether it’s sipping coffee, playing games, or going on a nature walk, these cute activities will make your shoot feel more relaxed and natural. Remember, it’s far more important to feel good than to look perfect.

At the end of the day, this is about celebrating an incredibly special season in your relationship, with photos that reflect your love, and of course, that gorgeous new bling. So, wherever we go, whatever we do, I promise we’ll make it a fun and meaningful experience.

But if you’re after a bit of real-life inspiration, here are my top 6 outdoor engagement shoot locations across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast!

Where to Take Engagement Photos in Brisbane

From historic buildings to riverfront views, Brisbane City offers a stunning balance of natural and urban landscapes for your engagement shoot.

Whether you’re picturing an afternoon at the Gallery of Modern Art, a morning coffee at your local cafe, or a relaxed stroll through the Botanical Gardens, there’s no shortage of indoor and outdoor engagement shoot locations in Brisbane to match your vibe.

Brisbane City: Heritage Buildings & Iconic Streetscapes

For Honey and Josh’s engagement session, we leaned into a timeless, elegant aesthetic during golden hour, exploring one of Brisbane City’s most iconic landmark buildings—the Treasury.

With its heritage sandstone facade, arched windows, and checkered tiling, the architecture created the perfect backdrop for romantic, editorial-style shots.

Just a short walk away, we wandered over to the adjacent Queens Gardens, where the tall palm trees and lush greenery added a subtle tropical twist to their photos.

To wrap up the session, we captured a few fun, candid portraits as Honey and Josh strolled down the main street—traffic lights blinking, cars passing by—bringing that modern rom-com energy to life.

Fortitude Valley: Cute Date Spots & Rooftop Views

Just 10 minutes from Brisbane City, Fortitude Valley is a trendy suburb renowned for its hip laneways, vibrant nightlife, and a mix of heritage-listed buildings. A fun blend of grungy cool and sophisticated charm, I was thrilled when Sophie and Lachlan suggested Fortitude Valley for their engagement shoot location.

We kicked things off with a sweet pit stop at Messina—because who doesn’t love a pre-shoot sugar high? From there, we made our way to a hidden rooftop car park for some modern, industrial-style portraits, complete with a champagne pop moment.

Sophie’s puff-sleeved baby doll dress and soft waves added a lovely main-character contrast to the gritty concrete surrounds, with buildings towering in the background, lending an effortlessly cool edge.

Where to Take Engagement Photos on the Sunshine Coast

With its golden beaches, scenic lookouts, and hidden hinterland gems, you’ll be spoilt for choice if you’re planning an engagement shoot anywhere on the Sunshine Coast.

While it was no easy task narrowing down the list, I’ve rounded up my go-to outdoor engagement shoot locations—each spot offering a uniquely special setting depending on your vibe.

Glass House Mountains: Iconic Peaks & Cinematic Frames

Recently featured as the filming location for Black Snow season two, the Glass House Mountains will always be one of the most iconic outdoor photo locations in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

With 11 striking peaks, scenic walking tracks, open fields, and hidden watering holes, this spot is my personal favourite for cinematic-style shoots. It’s a place where portraits can feel like stills from a film—and that’s exactly what we created during Amber and Jack’s engagement session at Glass House Mountains, as well as Jess and Myles’ shoot, which is featured below.

With no one else around, we spent a few quiet hours capturing a mix of candid and gently posed moments to honour this beautiful chapter in their love story.

Coolum Beach: Beach Walks & Hidden Bays

Nestled between the shores of Marcoola and Peregian Beach, Coolum is a coastal town with all the laid-back appeal the Sunshine Coast is known for.

With hidden bays and secret rock pools hugging the rugged shoreline, Coolum Beach offers a breathtaking blend of sun, sand, and surf—perfect for my fellow beach lovers. Embracing the soothing sounds of rolling waves and the endless ocean horizon, Brittany and Keelin turned this slice of coastline into their own happy place.

From barefoot strolls to toe-dips, Coolum Beach set the sweetest scene for their relaxed, romantic outdoor engagement shoot.

Point Cartwright: Lighthouse Views & Whale Sightings

Located right at the mouth of the Mooloolah River and at the northern tip of Kawana Beach, Point Cartwright is a peaceful stretch of shoreline in Buddina. Because it’s an unpatrolled beach, it’s the perfect spot for an intimate engagement shoot, away from the usual tourist crowds.

With its historic lighthouse, muralled water tower, and occasional humpback whale sightings, Point Cartwright is an adorable place for a cosy picnic and barefoot beach walks.

Julia and Andrew chose to keep things low-key, enjoying a casual stroll at golden hour, letting their incredible connection take centre stage.

Maleny Private Farm: Rolling Hills & Secret Gem

If you’re feeling a little nervous about a photoshoot—whether you’re camera-shy or don’t love having your picture taken somewhere unfamiliar with lots of strangers around—I highly recommend choosing a private property or any place you know well, even your own home!

You could also book a beautiful Airbnb for a quiet Sunshine Coast getaway and plan your shoot during your stay. Trust me, most couples say they feel “awkward” at first, but once they relax and settle in, the nerves melt away, and the camera almost disappears.

Tamara and Sebastian did just that, opting for a private farm in Maleny for their country-style engagement shoot, complete with their fur baby and the cutest highland cows.
