This year is all about embracing colour, texture, and plenty of personality. It’s a noticeable shift from the minimalist white florals and muted blush palettes that once dominated wedding styling and now feel like a distant memory.
But here’s the thing: trends should never feel like a rulebook. They’re simply a source of inspiration. Styles will always evolve, yet the most memorable weddings aren’t the ones that resemble a perfectly curated mood board. They’re the ones that honour the couple’s story, energy, and the people they love most.
So if you’re currently deep in Pinterest boards or TikTok rabbit holes, think of this guide as a starting point to help you gather ideas and discover what resonates most with you.
From luxurious drapery to tables overflowing with fruit, the 2026 wedding scene is shaping up to be bold and full of life.
Here are just some of the “viral” 2026 wedding trends I’m seeing everywhere right now, and why my couples are loving them!
Soft lilac paired with fresh, organic greens is becoming one of the most popular colour combinations for 2026. It feels romantic and modern without feeling too overbearing and loud.

Just from the weddings I’ve shot over the past year, I’d say couples are becoming more adventurous with colour in general. One unexpected pairing that’s been taking over TikTok is burgundy and chartreuse—a rich, moody tone balanced with a vibrant yellow-green. It’s tastefully dramatic, unconventional, and proof that wedding styling is shifting toward more maximalist choices.
Whether you’re leaning towards cleaner, subtler shades or daring, high-contrast pairings, introducing a pop of colour is one of the easiest ways to make your wedding feel iconically ours.
From billowy silks to cascading linens, drapery wedding decor is having a serious moment right now—and we can’t get enough of it! Think flowing fabric suspended from ceilings, layered over backdrops and tables, and wrapped around arches and entryways.

Often paired with sculptural florals, it instantly softens a space and adds movement, texture, and elegant drama without overloading the room with additional decor. It’s also incredibly versatile; you can transform any venue, whether modern, industrial, or outdoors, into a softer, more immersive setting.
From a photography perspective, drapery adds beautiful depth and dimension to your images.
Yep, you read that right. Food is stepping out of the kitchen and onto the table as part of the styling itself.

We’re talking lush clusters of grapes, scattered citrus, juicy pomegranates, figs, and olives artistically arranged along tabletops, dotted with warm candlelight and draped fabrics, to create a sense of overflowing abundance. It’s visually striking, but also cosy and inviting, more like a shared family meal than a formal banquet.
A little rustic, a little fine art-esque, this 2026 wedding trend is perfect for wedding receptions featuring long, communal tables and family-style dining, where guests can settle in, pass plates, and enjoy lingering conversations well into the evening.
While traditional tiered wedding cakes will never go out of style, couples are starting to have more fun with their dessert choices. Tiramisu cakes, mille-feuille, and other European-inspired desserts are becoming popular alternatives, adding a touch of indulgence to the celebration.

At the same time, curated drink menus are becoming a highlight of the reception. Instead of offering a standard bar selection, couples are creating signature cocktails that reflect their personalities or favourite nightcaps.
Think Aperol spritz for a summer celebration, zesty limoncello for a Mediterranean twist, or espresso martinis to kick off the dance floor. These small (yet very delicious) details add personality and give guests something moreish to enjoy throughout the evening.
Who says you have to hop on a plane to enjoy some destination wedding vibes? From heritage homesteads to sprawling garden estates, there are venues all across Queensland and Australia that offer classic European charm without leaving home.
With their secluded, intimate feel, some of my favourite European-inspired wedding venues in Queensland include:

These spaces naturally lend themselves to a more relaxed timeline, making your day feel less like a structured event and more like a long dinner party in the Italian or French countryside.
While it’s not necessarily a wedding decor trend, different wedding photography styles play a huge role in influencing how your memories look and feel for years to come. And right now, direct flash photography is making a huge comeback, especially for reception and dance floor moments.

It captures the energy of your night in a way that feels raw yet editorial—like the kind of paparazzi photos you’d see in a fashion magazine or on a big night out. Think blurry movement and high contrast, perfect for those chaotic, joy-filled moments when everyone’s fully in party mode.
Giving perfection the flick, it’s about documenting your celebration exactly as it felt.
At the end of the day, the only trend worth following is the one that feels right for you.
Whatever aesthetic you’re drawn to, your wedding should reflect you two rather than someone else’s Pinterest board. The most meaningful celebrations aren’t the ones that look identical to everyone else’s. They’re the ones that feel genuine and intentional. Your guests will remember how your day felt far more than how it looked.

And when it comes to capturing all the moments, having a photographer who understands you and your vision makes all the difference. Someone who can document the big highlights, the quiet in-between moments, and the atmosphere you worked so hard to create—while giving you the space to simply be yourselves.
